We’ve all played The Sims 4, right?
Personally, I was deep in it. Like, my Origin account had 4,000 hours logged. I wasn’t casually building houses—I was in the trenches, obsessing over every facial slider and outfit combo in CAS (Create-A-Sim). That part was always my favorite. The idea that you could design a million+ variations of one person? Insane. Beautiful. God-tier.
And honestly? I don’t think I’ve ever fully stopped doing that.
Sometimes, I genuinely believe we’re in a simulation. Who’s to say there isn’t a green plumbob floating above my head right now? How do I know I have real autonomy and not just free will points in someone else’s expansion pack?
Anyway. Delusions aside: I want to live like I’m a Sim.
I want to build my human character with intention, like I’m designing her from scratch.
I want to make myself the baddest Sim to ever exist.

Fashion games weren’t just childhood nostalgia; they were foundational.
Sims 4, MovieStarPlanet, Roblox, Girlsgogames... we spent hours making characters, or at least I did.
But…we never stopped to build our own.
We curate avatars with hyper-specific aesthetics but rarely give ourselves that same love in real life. We try to “find a niche,” but what if we stopped fitting into boxes and just focused on curating the best version of ourselves?
That’s truly the main reason I write. It’s why I design.
It’s why I created Orchideia, my magazine (coming soon 👀).
I make things for the girl who’s still figuring herself out.
You are your own muse.
You are the painter and the model.
The designer and the creation.
Character Designing IRL
This means finding:
your signature hair color.
your nail style (chrome? almond? always short and clean? vibrant?)
your makeup identity (glam, minimalist, or “just vibes”)
your silhouettes. your undertones. your go-to scent. your lore.
You get the gist.
Curating your look around your actual features, your vibe, and your lived-in body is the best character you’ll ever design.
It’s not about “fitting in”; it’s about fitting you.

For me? I recently found my signature hair color: a soft gingery brown. Borderline cinnamon. Cozy, warm, and actually flattering, unlike black hair, which (sorry) just doesn’t eat on me the way I’d hoped.
I also figured out I have a neutral (sometimes neutral-warm) undertone. Knowing your body type makes shopping so much easier; it’s like unlocking a cheat code. Like, oh my god, I can immediately just say no when I see a piece that is not flattering on my body type.
The same goes for figuring out your undertone. It helps with:
Picking clothes that don’t wash you out
Finding your best hair shades
Choosing makeup that actually matches
You can figure out your body type with this quiz.
And, finding your undertone is so beneficial for clothing and hair colors, and makeup!
You’re not a niche; you’re a character.
Coquette princess. Opium girl. Clean girl. Stockholm style.
Lana Del Rey Diet Coke heiress… or whatever it’s called.
But the truth is, you don’t have to be a niche. You just have to curate yourself.
You’re not a template.
You’re not an aesthetic.
You’re not just a “vibe.”
You’re the main character.
And you get to choose what she looks like.
How she thinks.
How she shows up.
How she evolves.
Make her good, not even good… Make her great.
I truly believe in curating exactly who you've always known yourself to be and trusting the process. I love the ginger brown hair.
how does this not have over a million likes??? i absolutely ADORE this and am taking the quiz as we speak💅🏽
